Introduction - Spellwork for Beginner

Spellwork, a practice spanning centuries, serves as a means to manifest desires, protect loved ones, and establish connections with the spiritual realm. While it might appear daunting to newcomers, spellwork is, in fact, a straightforward and valuable tool that anyone can use and incorporate into their daily lives.

In this beginner's guide, we'll delve into the fundamentals of spellwork, also known as everyday magic, and explore how to seamlessly integrate it into your daily life. (please note in case you wonder why I use magick sometimes, as this is one of the common ways practitioners use to differentiate real magick and magic tricks)

Every Magick vs High Magick

It's important to distinguish everyday magic is different to the high magick rituals that we provide. High magick is much more powerful and much more difficult to perform as it requires expertise, years of experience and a deep relationship with divine intelligence or deities.

The primary difference lies in high magick's invocation of divine intelligence, our magic practitioner will travel astral to the deity's realm, seeking the deities' assistance to perform spellwork while making offerings and establishing precise communication with them and receive unique tailored instructions from deities. These instructions are then relayed to you to be executed after the ritual.

I will explain high magick in more detail in my upcoming article.

Understanding The Key Differences

Everyday magick, on the other hand, is more relies on personal intention, the energy of crystals, herbs, lunar phases, ritual oils, and the energies associated with different days of the week to empower spells without the power of divine intelligence. Some practitioners prefer to choose specific days, moon phases, or astrological events to enhance their spells' efficacy.

Researching and incorporating these factors can amplify your spellwork's potency. I personally think it’s a good idea to align with the right timing if it is possible, as it's good to have all the additional power to charge the spell as there is no divine entity involved here.

The Role of Intention

It's essential to emphasize that, in the realm of magick, intention plays a pivotal role, regardless of whether you're practicing high magick or everyday magick. Your thoughts hold the power to either boost or hinder the manifestation process. In witchcraft, the law of attraction and mindset intertwine with the spell's power.

Understanding Spellwork

Before delving into everyday magick or spellwork, it's crucial to grasp its essence and mechanics. In simple terms, spellwork harnesses focused intention to alter energy and vibrations, thereby manifesting desired outcomes. It involves tapping into the natural energies and vibrations of the universe to effect change in your life. Think of it as transmitting an energy signal to the universe, planting a seed that aligns you with the vibrational frequency required to receive your desired results.

Observing Signs and Synchronicities

After performing certain spells, you may notice synchronicities, signs, and signals in your surroundings. Make sure you pay attention to what happens around you after doing certain spells. These occurrences should be interpreted as messages from the universe, indicating that magick is in motion and the universe supports your intentions.

Please feel free to use a manifestation journal or worksheet to write down any synchronicities, signs, and signals. By doing this, this act will help you to focus on what you desire instead of your problems which is a crucial aspect to help with manifestation.

Setting Intentions

Prior to casting a spell, take time to reflect on your desired outcome and establish a specific intention. This focus channels your energy and guides the spell toward achieving your goal. You can articulate your intention by describing the desired outcome, enabling you to visualize it clearly during the spell casting.

You may also read my article about What Magic is, as the article explains how magick works. Spells can be used for a variety of purposes, from attracting love, protecting yourself from negative energy or toxic people, warding off evil, reversing curse, manifesting a job or good luck or money, healing from emotional traumas to increase your inner power such as confidence, self-love, allure and many many more.

I will write an article to explore how one can utilise high magick and in what areas high magick can be used in the near future.

Setting Intentions Prior Spellwork

Before casting a spell, take some time to reflect on your desired outcome and set a specific intention. This will help focus your energy and guide the spell towards achieving your goal. You can write a description or a list of the characteristics of the desired outcome so that you know exactly what you need to visualize when you cast the spell.

How do you set your intentions during spellwork

One of the essential steps in spellwork is setting a clear intention. This is the desired outcome that you want to manifest through your spell. It's important to be specific and focused when setting intentions, as this will help to direct the energy towards your desired outcome. Setting intentions is very much so of visualisation.

It is crucial to have the ability to clearly visualize what you want in your mind clearly, and the other crucial aspect of visualization is to feel it. You have to feel it in your heart when you visiualize what you want to achieve. I cannot stress that enough. Often, one of the common challenges people face is that we cannot feel our desired outcome when we are in the struggles because we are too focused on the problems but not what we want.

It is easier said than done, this is why I personally think it is crucial to have the ability to control your focus and your thoughts and know how to visualize with intense feelings.

There is a great book that talks about the law of attraction called - Master Key Principles by Charles F. Haanel. In the book, the author talks about how our thoughts can shape our outer world in-depth and also provides some useful exercises to train our mind focus and visualization skills.

Gathering What You Need for Spellwork

To prepare for spellwork, you'll require a step-by-step guide for the spell you wish to perform, a quiet and private ritual space, and several tools. Make sure you choose supplies that resonate with your intention.

A worktop where you can perform the ritual, a space where you can perform the ritual quietly and without any disturbance. A private space. You can do the ritual anywhere, on the floor, on a table, in your room or outdoors, but if you do it outdoors, you just have to beware of the wind in case the wind puts off the candle flames, please try not to perform the ritual in the toilet (in case that is what you are thinking). I do my rituals in my bedroom as this is a space where I can focus and have my own privacy.

Basic Toolkit

  • A worktop and a private space
  • Herbs associated with the spell
  • Candles
  • Candle Snuffer (if you have one)
  • Incense/Resin
  • Incense holder/resin bowl
  • Sage to cleanse the space
  • Crystal associated with the spell and intention
  • A tablecloth (you don’t need it, but it is useful to have one)
  • Lighter
  • Mortar and pestle (depending on the spell itself)

Please note this may not be the complete list of tools you need, and please always cross-check with the instructions of the spell you wish to perform.

Gathering Supplies

The common supplies used in spellwork include candles of different colours, herbs associated with your desired outcome, crystals associated with what you want to achieve, mortar to grind the herbs and ritual oils associated with your desired outcome. These items can be used to represent different elements and energies and can be incorporated into your spells in various ways. It's important to choose supplies that resonate with you and your intention.

While you are gathering supplies for your spellwork, you can always use what you already have, such as if you plant fresh herbs in your garden or any existing crystals that you already have. if you have no budget issues, you can go all your way out to buy top-quality supplies like expensive candles, organic herbs, AAA-grade crystals, marble mortar and so forth.

This is really your own choice, some people only use organic, quality, expensive herbs. Please note that if you are allergic to a particular item/herb, please use something substitute to replace that particular item. For example, rosemary works as a substitute for lots of herbs if you put your intention into it.

In addition to gathering supplies, you can also incorporate other elements into your spellwork. For example, you can create a sacred space or altar where you perform your spells. This space can be decorated with meaningful objects, symbols, or images that resonate with your intention.

Prior Ritual

I recommend taking a shower and putting on fresh clothes. You can take a relaxing bath if you like, just make sure you don’t feel sleepy afterwards. I tend to feel sleepy if I am too relaxed, so I normally take a relaxing shower, especially if I have had a busy day. There are people who will dress up a little, but I prefer smart casual, not overly dressed up, but something a little nicer but comfortable.

In traditional witchcraft, there is a tradition whereby the practitoner will put on a robe before the ritual begins, but that is entirely up to you. Put on a robe if that makes you focus, and it will help you with setting your intention. It’s OK if you don’t, as the right headspace is more important.

Take out all your tools

Place all your tools on a table or a worktop. Lay them out, and make sure you leave some space in front of you so that you have some space to move your hands around while you are casting the spell.

The right headspace

You want to be as calm and as “in the zone” and be in the “alpha state” before casting a spell. Being in the right headspace is very important, so having a short meditation of 10-15 minutes and regulating your breathing before the ritual will get you into the right zone.

Short Meditation

This is why it is recommended for us to practise meditation daily or frequently. I couldn’t meditate a few years ago, but my meditation skill has improved so much since I started practising the craft myself. The trick is when thoughts pass by your mind, try not to engage the thought with your emotions, try not to continue the chain of your thought, and instead focus on feeling the space next to you, around your face. If you catch yourself engaging the thought, stop immediately and bring your focus back to feeling the space around you.

Play some Solfeggio Frequencies Music

If you find it hard to quiet down your mind, I find it helpful to put on your headphones and listen to Hertz meditation music, you can find a lot of Hertz meditation music on YouTube for free.

For those who don't know what Solfeggio Frequencies is. Solfeggio Frequencies are a set of ancient musical tones that have been used for healing and spiritual purposes. These tones have been used since ancient times in both the East and West but were ‘rediscovered’ in the 1970s by Dr. Joseph Puleo, who was able to identify the nine measurable tones and bring them back into public awareness.

They consist of a series of frequencies that range from 174 Hz to 963 Hz. Each frequency is believed to have specific healing properties and effects on the mind and body. Here's a brief overview of the Solfeggio Frequencies:

  1. 174 Hz - Pain and Stress Relief: This frequency is associated with relieving physical and emotional pain and reducing stress and tension.
  2. 285 Hz - Healing Tissues and Organs: 285 Hz is believed to support the healing of tissues and organs within the body, promoting physical healing.
  3. 396 Hz - Guilt and Fear Release: This frequency is often used to release feelings of guilt and fear, helping individuals let go of negative emotions.
  4. 417 Hz - Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change: 417 Hz is associated with breaking negative patterns, undoing situations, and bringing about positive change.
  5. 528 Hz - Transformation and Miracles: Known as the "Miracle Tone," 528 Hz is thought to facilitate transformation, DNA repair, and the manifestation of positive change and miracles.
  6. 639 Hz - Connection and Relationships: This frequency is used to enhance communication, improve relationships, and foster harmonious connections with others.
  7. 741 Hz - Awakening Intuition: 741 Hz is believed to awaken intuition, enhance problem-solving abilities, and promote clarity of thought.

These frequencies have been used in various forms of sound healing and meditation practices. The Solfeggio Frequencies have a long history and are considered part of the broader field of vibrational and energy medicine. There are so many different tones to choose from, this is only one of them. Feel free to choose one that resonate with you.

Casting Spells

Once in the right mental state, cast your spell by cleansing the space of negative energy. You can achieve this with frankincense resin, sage, or other cleansing herbs. Spellcasting methods vary, including candle magick, visualization, or written spells. Focus your energy and intention on your desired outcome during the spell, possibly incorporating rituals or chants to intensify the spell's energy.

Basic Ritual Steps

Please note these steps represent an everyday magick spell, not a high magick spell.

  1. Gather and arrange your tools.
  2. Light incense and candles.
  3. Dim the lights or use candlelight.
  4. Relax and enter a meditative state by doing a short meditation.
  5. Meditate on your intention for a moment.
  6. Cast your spell when you are ready.
  7. Conclude the ritual by extinguishing candles properly.
  8. You can dig a hole in your garden to bury the herbs. Depending on the ritual you choose, the instructions should tell you how you should dispose of the herbs and residues.

Remember, never blow out the candles, as this disperses your intention. Instead, use a candle snuffer or your hand to extinguish them.

In Conclusion

By following these fundamental steps and integrating spellwork into your daily life, you can tap into the inherent magic and help manifest your desires. Always approach spellwork with respect and pure intention, trusting in the universe's power to bring about positive change in your life.
